Can I join a cancer clinical trial if I have already received chemotherapy or radiation?
Yes, in many cases. Most oncology trials at FOMAT Medical are designed for patients who have already undergone standard treatment. Some studies specifically seek participants who have completed first- or second-line therapy. Your prior treatment history is reviewed during pre-screening to determine which studies you may be eligible for.

What types of lung cancer clinical trials does FOMAT offer in California?
FOMAT’s California oncology unit conducts trials for both non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and small cell lung cancer (SCLC), including studies targeting specific genetic mutations. Is colorectal cancer research available at FOMAT in California?
Yes. FOMAT conducts colorectal cancer trials at our California research unit, including studies for patients with advanced or treatment-resistant disease. If you have a confirmed colorectal cancer diagnosis and are seeking additional treatment options, you may be eligible to participate.
Do I have to pay to be in a cancer clinical trial at FOMAT?
No. All study-related care, including visits, lab work, imaging, and investigational medication, is provided at no cost. Participants are also compensated for their time and travel. You do not need insurance to participate.
Can I continue seeing my regular oncologist while participating in a FOMAT trial?
Yes. Participation in a FOMAT clinical trial does not replace your existing oncology care. We coordinate with your treating physician and keep them informed throughout the study. Your standard care continues in parallel.
What happens if I want to leave the trial?
Participation is always voluntary. You may withdraw from a FOMAT oncology trial at any time, for any reason, without penalty or impact on your access to other medical care. Our team will guide you through a safe exit process.
